The Lions of Little Rock

Our school participated in the Masachusetts Children's Book Award. Those who chose to read at least five of the nominated books and voted on what was their favorite. The school winner was “The Heroes of Olympus: The Son Of Neptune.” The winner of the award was “The Lions of Little Rock.” It is a great historical fiction book about friendship that takes place in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the time of racial segregation. It is a great book, and I would highly recommend for you to read it!

BTG

Today, Travis from the Berkshire Theatre Group visited our class. We played a game called park bench, in which one person sat on a "bench" and the other person tried to make them laugh or smile. The person that wasn't on the chair would say "Is this seat taken?" and the person  on the bench would say, " Yes." The person that wasn't on the bench would say, "By whom?" Then, the person on the bench would make up someone sitting on the bench beside them. After that, the improvising began( if the person hadn't laughed yet)

Measurement

Today we focused on why units of measurement are useful. We discussed how there are different units for different things we're measuring. We thought about what would happen if we switched from the standard system to the metric system. What would be good? What would be bad about it? We were also measuring a wood chip, a checker, and a metal disc. We started measuring with paper clips, then grams. The paper clips were different sizes and so it wasn't accurate.
