Cool drawings for our stories!

Yesterday we did awesome drawings for our realistic fiction  stories.

First we did something called a thumbnail drawing, then we started our final drafts, we worked on

doing shading, instead of color and it was hard some people did good! We continued today, and most of us finished. Some people did their drawing close up, far away, and from the side.

We are reading books by Chris van Allsburg 

Every day  (mostly ) .  The last was the sweetest fig.

It is about a man who is a dentist and instead of getting paid money he got  two figs from a old lady and they made his dreams come true. In each of Chris van Allsburg's books has a dog hidden somewhere in a picture. This week we are either watching  The polar express or Zathora. We each get to pick witch one we watch!

Third and fourth grade concert "a knight to remember " by NICO and THE AMAZING CONNOR

This Friday is  the third and fourth grade concert. The concert

is called a knight to remember .  Today we had our first rehearsal.

The main characters are played by Aiden Anderson and Kate Goble.

Yesterday was the first and second grade dress rehearsal the whole school was there. 

It was a concert about weather around America.  They had kids come up to the microphone 

to tell what weather they were going to talk / sing about. It was  fun to watch. Today was the concert.

        

Finishing Naomi Leon by Nico

This week we finished our book,

Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Ryan.

It is about  a girl named Naomi  who is abandoned by her mom. Her mom comes back, and she is addicted to alcohol. She threatens Naomi and Naomi wants to find her dad.

They find him and go to court, Naomi ends up with her dad and grandma. 

Today we did soap carvings in honer of Naomi !

Thanksgiving food drive by: Nico and Connor

Our school is doing a Thanksgiving food drive. our class decorated the box today with cut out turkeys , pilgrim hats , and other cool stuff. The box is due tomorrow and we need more stuff!!!!

This week we started to get paid for doing our jobs! 

The max for getting money a day $2.00 a week $10.00.

And at the end of the month we get to  have an auction 

for cool stuff!  We also got work logs. At social studies we decorated them.

Today was word day. Everyone dressed up as a word. Some were funny and some were serious.

Today we had all school. Our class elected Olivia as best word and outfit. Her word was gothic.

We organize our folders every afternoon so our parents can see our work. It is very important. Every afternoon we clean up the classroom so it can be neat for the next day.

The class is working hard to clean up for the day. Everyone is doing there jobs. And it's time to go home .

All School Mexican Hat Dance by Connor

On Thursday October 17th the whole school did the Mexican hat dance in the gym and the golden awards were given out. The awards were: the Golden lunch tray, Golden sneakers, Golding plunger, Golden pine cone, and the 4th grade high five ticket award went to Emma A. in our class!

Fiesta Time

On October 23 the whole 4th grade will be having a Fiesta we will wear our masks (there is a blog about that) and there will be our skeletons and the the day of the dead papers on someone that has died in our family.

 

Our class hike

Today we hiked monument mountain,as a class field trip.we went with miss Grobers class 

It was so hi up,and it was so cold up there and once we were at the top we ate lunch the we walked down. It was a  hard hike down but it was fun. A few people were throwing acorns and that seamed to entertain almost everyone around (except the people who were getting acorns thrown at them)

Friday,September,26 was the day we made masks.we put plaster on are faces and sat there for about five minutes each. About half of the class got their mouth covered,and the other half did'nt.

It's picture time! We just got are picture taken on   Friday the 9/13/13. And Elana and Olivia fixed up our little friend. 

Clark museum

We went to the Clark museum last week. And we got to play on ipads and we go to the gift shop.There were a lot of paintings and statues. We got to eat out side under a big tarp. We got to play a little bit out side in the back,we played Red light Green light, we also played Tag. We had so much fun we did not wanna leave! And we got to use skech books it was so much fun.

                                                              And Work Hard!

On May 17 all the 4th graders went on an awesome field trip

to the Connecticut Science Center! We saw buzz aldrins space suit!!! 

 We saw  a 2 million year old rock from mars, as you can see we got to

go in a tube that felt like a tornado, we saw a robotic dinosaur, also

we saw turtles, a levitating train, a lot of stuff about sight and

sound, and we went in an elevator that went really fast. 

We learned stuff about the human body. We had a lab with a guy

named Mr. Mark who taught us about electromagnetism. It was very

interesting. You have to go to the CT science center!! It's a way to

learn a lot of interesting stuff and you can have fun at the same time.

Job time in 4C

 

March 4 2013 

Today we learned about fractions.

We learned that fractions can be different no matter big or small. Today we had our pre-assessment for fractions.

March 6 2013 

We had Michael Walsh’s dad came to our class room and read us a book. Michael’s dad is a police officer.   

March, 7 2013 

Ms. Cosel's dad came and showed us his wonderful adventure. Today we had to take an MCAS practice test because we start MCAS on the 19 of March. TODAY THE Chorus PEPOLE WENT TO THE HIGH SCHOOL to rehearse for our concert tonight. We are so excited for it. Today we finished our fraction cards.

Abby Z. won the citizenship award!

Today we found out that we have to do a presentation on our nonfiction books.  Today we practiced our MCAS because we have our test on Tuesday. Today we listened to our classmates’ personal narratives. All of our classmates used descriptive writing and words. Today in gym we ran around cones and mats for a warm up. Almost all of the kids got very, very, very, tired.

Today at all school Abby Z. won the citizenship award and Abby Wade won the Read-A-Thon raffle.  

Today we graded MCAS writing. The time flew by so fast.

We can’t believe that MCAS is tomorrow. Some of us are nervous some aren’t. But at the same time some are.

Yesterday Ms.Cosel informed us that the state has cancelled MCAS due to the weather.  Today we made index cards to prepare for our presentation for Friday. We cant wait MCAS is in five days! “ Ya ” We are   so exited that our pretentious is on Friday. 

Today we found out who won the essay contest. There were four people. Congratulations to Paige, Abby Wade, Abbyz, and Lucie!

This Week In 4C

In the week of 2-25-13, Abby.Z and Michael are Human Highlighter, again. On Wednesday 2-27-13 Mary Pope Osborne the author of the Magic Tree House series is came to our school. Tuesday, 2-26 -13 we are finished up our little Canada books. On Thursday 2-28-13, we went to the High School for their band performance. Wednesday 2-25-13 is the first day of the Read-A-Thon. Instead of counting the number of minutes we read, we’re counting the number or pages we read. So far our class has read 1,225 pages on the first day. On the second day, Thursday 2-28-13, we read 1035 pages!

 

         Michael and Abby.Z are Human Highlighter these 2 weeks. Last Wednesday we had a test on the 10 provinces and the 3 territories in Canada. This Wednesday we have a math test on geometry. Speaking of geometry, in it we have been learning about area and perimeter. In our Canada studies we are learning about Canada’s history. In a packet we got, we have to draw a little a picture along with what we wrote. We all finished our packets and now were going to act out a play on Canada’s history last Friday and we might not have school. Our math test is on Friday so if we have no school that day it will be postponed next Wednesday. We had a half day this Friday. Our Valentines Day party will be next Thursday and it will be  Canadian themed. Some parents will bring in Canadian themed snacks. Valentines Day is the day of the Winter Fest. The three choices are tubing, snowboarding and skiing.

The Last Two Weeks Of January In 4C

Two weeks ago we began our study of Canada. We made maps for our study of Canada. We had indoor recesses.  We began lines of symmetry in math. At the end of the week we finished our final drafts. 

Last week we started learning about area and perimeter, we had Spanish and we got to do free reading. We used geo boards in math and we finished our reading group books. We wrote essays about our reading group books.

This week in science, we started working on our water portfolio’s. We finished our water portfolios this week. We included most of the stuff from our science folders.

Students chose an experiment to repeat from our studies or their own idea related to one of our experiments or studies to try this week. There were some great and creative ideas!
